Name: Tiia Pirttimaa
Caverion city: Vantaa, Finland
Education: Double certified Excel engineer: MSc in Industrial Engineering and Management majoring in Strategy & MEng in Urban Studies and Planning majoring in Real Estate Economics
My job title: Director, Sustainability
My career path at Caverion: My path starts in 2019 when I joined Caverion as a Business Development Specialist. With the team we developed the Caverion SRI consulting service. In addition, I got an opportunity to work as a Project Manager from Caverion side, in the KEKO Smart Building co-innovation project together with KONE, NOKIA, Halton, VTT, YIT and Netox (funding from Business Finland). It was an amazing journey into the smart building world together with other brilliant minds!
In 2021, I started as a Business Development Manager. We began to develop the CSRD-ready Emission Reporting for Caverion SmartView. In early 2023, I joined our sustainability team and later that year, I took responsibility for the all sustainability aspects. It has been a great and interesting journey so far!
What is my usual work day like: On a typical day, I collaborate with numerous different external and internal stakeholders to develop our sustainability practices. The projects are related to policies, practices, processes, targets, reporting and business models. Tasks like the Corporate Sustainability Reporting (CSRD) and our Science Based Targets (SBTi) are on my desk. You can read more about our sustainability targets, efforts and reports here.
My hobbies: Reasonably priced Wednesday culture activities such as wine and food, gym visits, second hand shopping, flipping projects in the South so I can build a cabin in the North, and all other Lapland activities: skiing, hiking, picking jams and walking in rubber boots.
My dream childhood profession: Cat sitter... To be honest and fair, I think I stole this idea from my sister. My other brilliant idea was to become a taster at an ice cream factory, which sounds more like me.
If I was a cartoon hero, I would be: Moomin's Little My
The best thing about Caverion: The opportunity to challenge yourself, make mistakes, develop as a professional, and learn from others. The best aspects of business development and sustainability are that you get to work throughout the organisation and in a truly diverse group, where you also always learn something new.
